- To the President of the United States, Members of Congress, and the United States Senate,
As faith leaders across America, we speak with one united voice: The famine in Gaza is a moral emergency that demands immediate intervention. The sacred value of every human life, affirmed in our diverse religious traditions, our Constitution, and international law, compels the United States to act with urgency and compassion.
Tens of thousands of civilians, including children, are facing imminent death from starvation, dehydration, and disease. Aid is being blocked. Hospitals are collapsing. Even medical staff and relief workers are now going hungry. To obstruct life-saving assistance is not only a political failure, it is a violation of human conscience, our deeply held sacred values and a breach of international law.As spiritual and faith leaders, we cannot stay silent. Our sacred texts and moral teachings call us to speak up for the vulnerable, to feed the hungry, and to act justly—especially in times of crisis. History will remember what we chose to do at this moment.
We therefore urge you to:
- Ensure the immediate and unrestricted delivery of food, water, medicine, and other life-saving humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.
- Over 500,000 people are facing famine conditions, according to the United Nations
- Support an immediate and permanent ceasefire, return of all hostages to their families, and a sustained diplomatic path toward a just, lasting peace in the Holy Land
